CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — Attorneys are arguing over what happened in a high-speed chase that led to the firing of a Charleston County deputy.

Former Deputy James Henry Carter III was charged with third degree assault and battery, as well as misconduct in office. But Carter’s body camera video from the incident hasn’t been released to the public.

News 4 has filed a Freedom of Information Act request and reached out to both the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. The sheriff’s office said Wednesday that they won’t release the video publicly until their internal investigation is complete.
